A dream in green

These moccasins are for Jan who won the competition set by Plumo; the online store that have stocked the moccasins for Summer. They were a dream to make, and I wish Jan all the best with padding around in them.

Force-lasting the shoe after making it, and tying the ends of the thread.

Stitching on the delicate vintage ribbon trim.

Enjoying the sun - I can't stay indoors when the weather is good.

Finishing the stitches and smoothing them down with the hammer.

Ready for their new owner.

What a beauty.

The new workshop at Efford Farm.

So this is it folks...

You can find me at Unit 5, Efford Farm, Bude.

This is the best of 'making do' with kitchen chairs, breeze blocks and a door. Hopefully the trestles and all my things are on their way from London!

Hmm. Things are slowly finding their place.

Bye for now : )

Taylor Stitch doing it right

On a recent jolly to SF I found myself being led in to one of the most friendly, resourceful and accomplished stores in town. Taylor Stitch make fine things, shirts being their main gig, but immediately the bespoke shoe area grabbed my attention. This is how it is properly executed...

1, 2, 3, 4 DONE! A simple concept offered perfectly. A partner company making moccasins and able to cater specifically to the Taylor Stitch customer. Delightful to see.

Rancourt & Co. Moccasin shoes, boots, leathers and soles to choose from.

The staff at Taylor Stitch are swell - a big thank you to Michael, Michael, Barrett, Jenilee, Juan and Kazu for being SO welcoming and inviting me to hang out there for a while.

Belts made locally in SF.

Their bespoke shirt service is another story, go to taylorstitch.com to see what they do!
Ladies shirts on their way... yeah!

White lace teardrops

This pair has a 1950's white lace trim which is absolutely gorgeous.

Sewing it on took some time but was worth it in the end.
